Helping Vietnamese banking sector develop
Vietnam is, since its accession to the World Trade Organisation in 2007, seeking to make its commercial banking sector more efficient, more sophisticated and profitable. It is in this context that WSBI-ESBG, in a consortium with two other organizations (Banking Skills Training & Consultancy Ltd (BTC) and Sparkassenstiftung für Internationale Kooperation (SBFIC)), will deliver a training and capacity building programme for two universities operated by the State Bank of Vietnam. The project is financed by the Government of Switzerland.
The idea is to train some 50 Vietnamese banking instructors in important areas like commercial bank management, business strategy development, credit management, and give them practical tools and concepts currently in use in global banks. The project will run until 2010 and should gradually help build Vietnamese banking practice up to international standards.
